Northfork is a town located in McDowell County, West Virginia, United States. It is situated along the Forks of the North Branch of the Tug Fork River. Northfork is a part of the McDowell County School District and has one public school, Northfork Elementary School. The town has a population of approximately 400 people and covers an area of 0.25 square miles. Northfork is known for its rich history in coal mining as it was once a booming coal town. Today, the town serves as a gateway to the nearby Pinnacle Rock State Park and is a popular spot for outdoor recreation such as hiking, fishing, and hunting.
